Meet Emily King, MA, LMHC

Like most helpers, I came to this work by way of my own journey. While in school in my early twenties I sought relief from anxiety and a debilitating chronic illness. I found somatic therapy, and over time it helped me become familiar with my nervous system and I learned to listen to what it needed.

Perhaps you are seeking more ease in your daily life, are healing from past experiences or trauma, long for deeper connection or belonging (with self or others), or want to shift current patterns that no longer feel supportive. Whatever it is that brings you here, I am honored to witness your story.

In addition to my formal education and experience working in the mental health field, I hold 15+ years’ experience in personal yoga and movement practice, over a decade of immersion in somatic healing modalities, contemplative exploration of spirituality and identity, and hail from a diverse family of origin. I provide innate and attuned insight into the multifaceted nature of our emotional life to assist us while we identify your strengths as well as opportunities for growth, and help us identify negative core beliefs that may be holding you back. I combine this body of knowledge with evidence-based modalities to best support you.

“Shame dies when stories are told in safe spaces.”

I hold reverence for what brought you here. I welcome you to show up authentically and just as you are. It is my goal to co-create a down-to-earth, sacred (sometimes playful, sometimes heavy) space so you may feel seen, heard, and known.

“Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing, there is a field. I will meet you there.”

- Rumi

I grew up in the foothills of the North Cascades and I hold a deep appreciation for the natural spaces we have available to us here. When I am not seeing clients I can be found outside, reading, doing yoga, playing video games, experimenting with cooking and baking, or planning a trip with my partner and dog, River. I practice amateur herbalism and enjoy learning about plant medicine and wildcrafting, and connecting with the land.
